Deal Jacket Checklist

The deal

Complete means all nine — the jacket goes complete or it does not go

• Buyer's order, signed and dated by everyone who is on the contract
• Credit application, signed, with no blank income or residence fields
• The retail installment contract, every disclosure box filled, no strikeovers
• Copy of a valid government ID for every buyer and co-buyer
• Proof of insurance meeting the lender's requirements
• Odometer disclosure and any required state form
• Trade documentation — title in hand or a payoff quote with a good-through date, and a lien release path
• Every lender stipulation: proof of income, proof of residence, references, whatever the approval called for
• A copy of the we-owe form, with the line also carried onto the open we-owe log (DSK-03)

What this jacket is worked against

Titling and registration — the clock starts at delivery

Write the temp tag expiry here and in the DMS, and check it against the title submission date. A tag that expires while the paperwork sits leaves the customer riding unregistered.

Out-of-state — written down once per state, never improvised deal by deal

• Which state's tax applies, decided and written on the deal before it funds
• What the buyer's state requires for registration, confirmed against the current rule
• Whether your temp tag is valid across the line — and if not, what the customer rides home on
• The written per-state process exists and this deal was worked off it; any deviation noted here with the reason
• Delivery date checked against the extra days out-of-state paperwork adds, so the temp tag does not expire in the gap

Adverse action

• Customer declined, or approved on materially worse terms than applied for — flagged here either way
• Written adverse action notice sent inside the legal window, with the confirmation in this jacket
• You confirmed it personally, rather than assuming F&I or the lender did
• The dead deal is closed out in the CRM with its save-a-deal reason code (DSK-01)

Funded is not finished. The jacket stays with the deal; confirm the title submission date on every unit delivered more than ten business days ago and take the exceptions to your GM by stock number.
